16 minutes

I did it. I finally convinced myself to join a gym (thanks to the pushing from Maria). And more importantly to sign up for the kids care. I went to bed last night so giddy that I would magically wake up in a day or two with a toned, modelesque body. This morning came, I dug around for my exercise pants that were completely wrinkled and haven't seen the light of day since 1999, and headed for the gym with Jack. I got my picture taken with Jack and quickly shooed him into the kiddie care, so I could get to work on my vision. I hit the elliptical first, and started chatting with Maria. This was it. It was so surreal. The Hallelujah chorus was singing in the background. I could see my legs getting toned as I ran. But I knew it was too good to be true. My name was called over the loudspeaker and I entered back into the world of mommyland. Jack was screaming, he had thrown up twice from crying so hard, and the girls in charge were giving me a hard time for bringing my kid in with a runny nose and cough (which he didn't have until exactly 16 minutes prior from crying so hard). And that was it. It was over. My 16 minutes of total freedom.

Well, at least he kept you from overdoing it. :) Tomorrow when you wake up not sore, you can thank Jack. Good luck next time!

I'm only laughing because that's what would happen to me and that's why I don't have a gym membership!!!

Ok let's get this straight for those out there who are asking why I would "push" someone who looks like a model to join the gym...I needed a gym buddy! And I thought it would be good for you to have a break! You ARE toned woman!!! Look at yourself! Anyway, I'm sorry your first day was so rough. I promise it'll get better so don't be discouraged. There's always tomorrow...

Oh Amy, that is hilarious! I'm sure it wasn't quite as funny today while it was happening, but it makes a great story! If I looked like you the last place I would be is the gym. As it is, weighing probably 50 pounds more than you, I can't figure out how to schedule a workout into my crazy days. Oh well. I'm sure it will go better for you and Jack tomorrow! Good luck!

Lol, as if you don't already have a "toned, modelesque body." I am so sorry though! You can always leave Jack here with me when you want to work out - I enjoy my workouts of sitting on my duff and watching Keegan run around. Hope it gets better for Jack and you soon!

He'll get over it.

You can come to Utah and use my gym membership (which has been completely neglected) and I'll babysit Jack instead!
