Garbage Day

Have you ever had a funny experience that you just can't seem to explain to someone, and you just wish they could have been there? Well I have been trying to think of a funny way to write what happened today, but I just can't seem to grasp the true essence of the moment. So just picture me, in our objectionable apartment dumpster, in the rain, fishing out my house keys. It was not a pretty site. I'm thankful for glass bottle recycling bins that seem to make the perfect step stools, and for Jack, who was sleeping soundly in our locked apartment, and for a cell phone, which was sitting in my locked apartment with my sleeping baby, and for Derek, who is out of town and could not have helped at all.

oh my goodness, I'm so sorry!!! I would have been so panicked - I bet you were calm and cool, as always ;-) I'm so glad you found them and were able to rescue your sweet Jack. Keegan is asking to go to "Amy's house" again - we may have to come visit sometime!

Seriously, next time you do this, you have to come over and get me so I can watch you dive into the dumpster. I just can't seem to picture it!

Oh Amy! I am so sorry, even though I am sitting here laughing. These are the stories that we love to see in the movies. What a great picture I have in my mind of you drenched, hair plastered to your face and digging around in the trash like a crazy person! TOO FUNNY! I'm glad you shared!

You're awesome Amy! Nothing like a little dumpster diving to start the week of right. Things can only get better from here, right...?! So here's to a great week!

You should have called me, I would have helped! It would have only taken me like 2 minutes to grab my camera and be there taking pics of it all....tis the season to be generous :)It's a good thing you have stories like this to make your once-a-month blog worth reading :)

I got desperate and was looking for long lost friends and tried googling your names with the word blogspot attached just on a whim. Yay for google! I am going to need your address for Christmas cards. I tried finding you last year too...snshnrn@hotmail.com. Randy was thrilled to see Derek has a blog.

I think Maria is onto something. So that we can understand exactly what you had to endure maybe you could recreate the event and have Maria take pictures. Is there an interesting story as to how the keys got in the dumpster?

Is this a true story?! What did you do? I hope it had a happy ending!

I have a similar story that involves my newborn baby locked inside my jeep, STILL RUNNING. Oh and I was by the homeless shelter in SLC, so everyone who walked by that I asked if they had a cell phone just glared at me because they don't have a roof over their heads, let alone a cell phone...

Jack will never know differently. At least that's what I have told myself for the past 3+ years.

Okay...I should not laugh, if it was me I would not have been laughing, but that is really funny. Isn't it funny that chaos makes our lives more interesting?! Glad everyone is safe and that you found your keys!!

Amy, I'm so sorry you had to experience that! I had a similar experience this past winter which reading your story made me rethink writing mine. Jack-jack looks great! He's gotten so big. I can't believe that much time has gone by. Hope you're doing well. You can read how we're doing at www.jaredjohnsonfam.wordpress.com or www.jaredjohnsonfamschool.wordpress.com

Amy,

That would make an excellent little YouTube video. It has Oscar written all over it if you can restage and shoot that as a mini-movie. You are one resourceful mom!

Are you still locked out of your apartment? That's the only reason I can think of for you not blogging in nearly TWO months.
